Day 2 in Seattle had an agenda including 2 famous dead people and 1 concert (see previous post).
First we were off to see the Jimi Hendrix memorial.
I really had no idea before MPOP that Hendrix was from Seattle. Alan pointed this out and then it HAD to be added to the itinerary.
So there are plenty of pictures of the memorial on-line and there are some interesting facts about it here:

Seeing it in person was an added secret bonus for this trip.

There are 27 of the blocks around the outside for each year he was alive. Inside is a guitar sculpture.

There are guitar picks that people have left here stuck into the sculpture.

That seems a given, what I didn’t expect were the lipstick prints on the 2 etched portraits.

This will sounds incredibly sexist, but I don’t know a lot of women, scratch that, ANY women that are into Hendrix, so this was surprising.
Naturally, I left a Buddha at the base of the guitar sculpture.

I wonder if it is someone’s job to come and clean the etchings and clear away all the offerings? At any rate, it was super cool to see.

After Jimi we went to a different cemetery to visit another grave, though non-musical, it deserves a mention here. Lakeview Cemetery hold the memorials for Bruce and Brandon Lee.

We arrived and found the spot after a short walk. It’s nice and in a very nice and peaceful spot with a gorgeous view.

The mountains and water can be seen the other direction from the spot.
Of course I left a Buddha for each.

Rest well all 3 of you.
