After work we hit Brat Fest.
This Fest used to be held in a parking lot at Hilldale Mall, now it’s a huge event that is done on the grounds of the Alliant Energy Center. Now there are rides and music too. There is a long lineup of music at 4 different stages on the grounds.
It was a nice night and after a hike from the parking lot we arrived in sausage heaven.
Our timing was perfect and there were hardly any lines.
This weekend, the view of this tent will be obscured by thousands of people and the “form 4 lines” signs will be legi.
While we sat and ate our brats a man was playing some solo acoustic on the Baker Tilly stage near us. They are serious about the music here at the Brat Fest. I have seen the sets grow from basically platforms to stages like this one.
He commented that he had played already that day and was just filling in while the next band set up. I didn’t catch who he was but he was good. He did a current song, and then broke out “Heart Of Gold” by Neil Young. It was good brat eating music.

I have heard Cherry Pie several times when I lived with Wanuafest in my back yard. They play great 80’s stuff and we would just sit in lawn chairs in the back yard and listen to them playing at the beer tent stage across the park. It was like our own private concert.
There is a lot of music to be had at Brat Fest. Go get some.
