We are going to see Sister Hazel this Friday.

We are going with friends Deb and Brett.

A few years back on a car trip Cindy played some Sister Hazel and I liked it. I had actually heard some Sister Hazel before from a Jason VanDinter at Marshall Erdman. He liked them and had one tape at his desk. I didn’t give them a chance then, but when I realized that the music Cindy was playing and the band Jason wanted me to listen to were the same I took notice.

Then came a time when I was trying to put together a CD for Cindy as a surprise. I went to Amazon to get a couple of songs and it just so happened that at that time there was a FREE Sister Hazel album for download. It was an 11 song sampler called 11411.

I had it for a little while before I had a chance to listen to it.

It was about this same time that I was thinking about asking Cindy to marry me.

One day on the way home from work with the van windows open I decided to give the Sister Hazel a listen. I played the album off of my phone into the stereo. The songs were great. Then it happened. The song “My Heart” came on when I was just about halfway home. The song changed my life. I listened to it and was blown away, then I started it over again. I had tears in my eyes as I screamed out the lyrics while I played it a second time. It was awesome.

I knew right then after listening to that song that I was ready and couldn’t wait any longer to ask Cindy to marry me. It was a pivotal moment. I started planning that night.

So this is a show that we both know the group, and it has a poignant history for me.
