There is no mistake that the noises in video games have progressed from the old days to full blown soundtracks these days.
The WSUM morning show that I listen to had a short stint of a show that was ALL music from video games. Some of it was incredible. A game without good music these days is missing something. I’m a rainy day gamer so I’m not in touch with most of this stuff, but I did find an article on the top 12 video game soundtracks.

That’s not to say that I don’t have ANY.
Nine Inch Nails did the music for one of the Quake games, which I have played and have the soundtrack too.
It is sort of a dark atmospheric collection of music, rather than songs… but that’s okay. This was back in 1996 and since then he has done similar work scoring films and won awards for it. “Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts I – IV” is another instrumental classic.
He won an Oscar for his “The Social Network” work.
Things have come a long way from the video games that we started with. I found this picture in an old album. This was the Pong game that my father came home with one day. It was a huge console and giant controllers and all it could do was play Pong. There were no other cartridges, no downloadable content, no Pong Live, memory cards or anything else. This was no frills bounce the square back and forth. Simple, classic, elegant. If you squint you can see the center line and my controller on the right.
The soundtrack to Pong was blip, boink, blip. There may have been a beep when you missed the “ball”.
Ah, the good old days.
Max, check out the table the TV is on!
