The other day I found out that one of my co-workers was in a band (evidently we have several musicians hiding in our midst) and that they had released a CD.
Any of you that know me know what happens next.
I support local artists whenever I can, and I’ve worked with this guy! How could I not show up at his desk to buy one and with a Sharpie no less.
“Supertanker – Glenway”
My copy signed by Win Sager (drums, percussion).
I put it on tonight and gave it a listen.
I have to say, in all honesty, this CD is GOOD. I was very pleasantly surprised. When I asked Win what type of music they played he mild manneredly answered something like “well, you know… rock I guess”. Indeed they do. This is great bar band music but polished and professional.
The vocals are strong and recorded well. One of my pet peeves is when vocals are recorded low and buried, but these are right up front and clear. The guitars are crisp and rocking and the rhythm section is tight. These songs are good lyrically too. I don’t want to gush, but I really liked it. Great job Supertanker!
For me standout tracks are:
- The Angriest man In Hollywood
- A Little Kid
- It Was The Year
The guy in the office who was on my project for a year and I had no idea.
Folks at WK… go get one and tell him I sent you.
The rest of the world can go to…
Great job Win! This thing rocks.
