As I get older, I see bands come and go, trends change, and it seems like musicians are getting younger and younger every day. Disney show artists are crushing the Top 40 and when I see a picture of some pop stars I think… do their parents know they are doing this?!
It’s the way of the world, and I don’t go and shake my fist at the sky and curse the new blood. My favorite rock stars were probably just like them years and years and years ago.
I have reached the point in my life where it seems that the bands I tend to gravitate towards are, well, let’s face it… old like me.
Even bands that I got into heavy in the 80’s are now almost 40 years old!
When you think about bands that were around in the 70’s that are still kicking, it almost boggles the mind. Let alone Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones. Sheesh. Good on these guys I say. They are still selling out shows and killing it.
So the other day, something like the line “I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac”, I had to smile when I was following a car that had a Kiss license plate holder.
Kiss has been around since 1973!
Someone here is proclaiming allegiance to the Kiss army and proud to show it off. This event was especially cool because believe it or not, I had just been thinking of Kiss. I had just been on a jag of gathering some of the great rock and roll movies and watching them. It was during this phase that I thought about the Kiss TV movie. Remember that one?
Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park (1978)
By the way, I am certainly NOT saying that this is one of the great Rock and Roll movies, but I remember thinking it was cool. Of course I was 14, the target demographic for Kiss at the time. I am going to have to find this movie and watch it.
At any rate, props to you Honda CRV driver for still to this day proclaiming you fealty to Kiss.
Or was this some young kids car that likes Kiss ironically?!
Sigh…
