For this week’s Vinyl Community Rewind I show a few vinyl purchases. It’s funny to look back now and see me talking about records that I don’t have anymore. The first record I show, the Jazz compilation is gone now.
The one Bowie song soundtrack is still with me though. Bowie stays.
Then I show my non-original but still love it copy of “The Clash – Sandinista” which turns into a conversation about dub. Reggae Dub. NOT Dubstep. I show my copy of “The Clash – Black Market Clash” perhaps the only 10″ vinyl I have ever purchased.
Then I show the first of many many Ravi Shankar albums that I end up purchasing. I came across my first one at a local bookstore for less then 3 bucks and it sent me down a path to probably 20 more albums. I had heard sitar music before, but never really checked it out. When I did, I was hooked. I also show a box set (3 records) of Ali Akbar Kahn.
The walls are still pretty sparse, but soon will start getting filled.
