For this week’s Vinyl Community Rewind I did a short Happy Mother’s Day shout-out to my mother, who basically bankrolled all the music I owned during my formidable years.
I recount trips to the Meijer Super Store when she would leave me at the record section while she grocery shopped and picked me up on the way back. Usually she had to try to talk me down from a pile of records to one or two. Records from Meijer were directly responsible for me getting into Bowie and Tull and Yes and Zappa.
Then there is a bit of some used record pickups. Highlights are UB40 and Haircut 100. Both classics from my history.
