Remember when you were in school and you had to watch a video tape or a TV show and they wheeled in one of those huge behemoths of a cart with a TV strapped to the top with a strap that could hold a ship at a dock, with a VCR that was the size of a microwave. There was always trouble getting things hooked up and started and sometimes an “AV” guy came with to help set stuff up.
You had to be an “AV” guy to push it, for reasons that were obvious to the CPSC.
It’s been a long long time since I have seen one of these babies.
Lo and behold however, on the way home from work the other day there was one sitting on someone’s curb along with a old humidifier. I noted it, realized we couldn’t fit it in the Mini Cooper and forgot about it by the time we were home.
Then next day, it was still there. I figured someone would take it, but no. Then I figured something must be wrong with it. Missing a wheel, shelf falling off…
The next day, it was still there and I had the Escape. I stopped to give it a cursory check. It rolled well, no wheels missing. All shelves were intact. Power cord still attached. Damn. It even fit in the back of the Escape easily.
Yeah, I brought it home.
I figure I can clean it up, and put stereo stuff on it.
I can roll my stereo into my man cave.
Of course I’m not sure what I would put on the tilted upper shelf.
I wonder where they got those straps?
**Sigh**
