Our friend Adam is in a band. I feel like that is a good opening line for a novel.

State Maps, the band he plays keyboards in was having a CD release party at the Comeback Inn and we went that night.

We arrived and joined Jake and Jenny and got a beer and settled in to listen. We could hear the keyboards in the mix. The music was good and people there were digging it. There were even some dancing gals near the bar. They played for a bit and then were joined onstage by a two-man brass section for a few. It was cool to see the band play.

From our vantage point of course Adam was directly behind the right speaker. I did go and get a “our friend in a band” shot, although it came out a bit shoddy, sorry Adam.

But you can see him behind his rig. Squint and bop your head from side to side to get the seeing the band live effect.

I have the older CD, entitled “State Maps” (which you can get at Frugal Muse in the local section!)

and this night I picked up their new one called “SuperMoon”

I of course love seeing anyone pound away at the drums. It’s a sound you just can’t experience the same way through audio, you have to feel it live for the full effect. I did go down front to get a picture that DID come out good of the whole band in action.

Live music rocks, and we were there!

Nice job Adam (and the rest of the band). It was a great show.
