Finally Complete – The Smashing Pumpkins – The Gossamer Archives

I have been known to start, then abandon projects… or have a great idea that fizzles out before completion. It happens.

This time though, I can report that I have completed a project. A big one.

Over a year ago I had an idea to collect all the live versions of The Smashing Pumpkins song “Gossamer” that I could find on Internet Archive. “Gossamer” is a song that The Smashing Pumpkins performed live from 2007 – 2013 while on tour, but it was never recorded for any album. It is a long jam spun around a song allowing for lots of soloing. Here is the post that I wrote when I decide to do the project, including a link to the first YouTube post.

Since I posted the first one (which to date has amassed 111 views, literally nothing in todays “it went viral” world, but I am still proud of) I have posted 17 more. The collection is now complete.

I finished!

Along the way the software I was using to make the videos stopped working and I had to buy new software and learn it all over again. I briefly misplaced ALL the files and thought the project was dead (spoiler alert… I found them again and made double backups) but I am pleased to announce that I have actually finished.

18 separate videos totaling 54 individual songs. Each video is about an hour long and has 3 songs each. It was a labor of love and I’m really glad to have seen it through to the end, finally. I even listen to some of them once in a while. The song is so good I’m still not burned out in it. So, now that the project is complete, I’ll post all the links here.
